Abstract
An integrated electroabsorption modulator integrated with a DFB laser exhibits very high speed modulation characteristics with a bandwidth over 30 GHz. It generates clear and stable optical pulse trains at repetition rates as high as 30 GHz-40 GHz for the first time.
