Abstract :
The authors address modeling and control of discrete-event systems based on a graphical representation of K. Inan and P.P. Varaiya´s (1988) finitely recursive processes. They introduce a graphical model in the form of block diagrams reflecting the algebraic structure of finitely recursive processes. The model is a multirepresentation language based on system structure and system behavior. The structural and behavioral features of the model interact with each other. Some supervisory control strategies are expressed within the framework of the graphical model. Controller design techniques which involve mutual participation and mutual exclusion are included in an example
