  • Abstract
A simple, easily realizable, high performance electronic ballast has been presented. The converter topology employs a current feedback scheme to achieve input-current-shaping. A boost converter shapes the current based on the current feedback while the inverter operates in self-oscillating mode reducing additional circuit components. A simplified analysis has been presented. The PSPICE simulation results match excellently with that obtained from the experiments. The ballast exhibits flicker-free start and operates in the frequency range of 20 kHz-30 kHz. Almost sine wave input current profile with very high power factor has been achieved.
