Abstract
When a semiconductor laser is overmodulated by a sinusoidal current, distortion occurs in the optical signal. Using a static limiter as a first model for the laser only permits a rough analysis of this effect. In order to describe the additional distortion arising when the optical intensity rises above threshold, an improved dynamic model is proposed which includes hysteresis
