  • Abstract
    Data compression is used operationally to reduce bandwidth and storage requirements. A comparative study of Doppler weather radar data compression is presented. Firstly, we discussed the redundancy in the Doppler weather radar data and presented the pre-processing algorithm for the data. Finally some lossless and lossy compression methods are used to compress the PPI images of pure reflectivity and Doppler velocity and presented the experimental results.
