Abstract :
A computer simulation of partial discharges (PD) due to electrical treeing was carried out. The number of discharge paths in a tree was assumed to be a constant and the length of the discharge paths was assumed to be normally distributed and the residual voltage decreased with the overvoltage. It was found that simulated φ-q-n and φ-n patterns were similar to that of experimental ones and the discharge path length and its distribution determined the PD patterns
