Abstract :
A broadband microstrip dipole antenna loaded with shorted pin is experimentally presented in the paper. The bandwidth of the antenna has increased from 70 MHz (3.5% bandwidth in 2 GHz) to 190 MHz (9.5% bandwidth in 2 GHz) by using a shorted pin. With a vertical gain of 2.7 dB and front-back gain of more than 5 dB, this broadband microstrip dipole antenna has features desirable in array application and mobile communication.
