Abstract
This paper presents a coordinated methodology to control Hopf and saddle-node bifurcations in power systems based on the use of a secondary voltage regulation scheme (SVR), The sensitivities of these bifurcations to SVR parameters are used to determine the most effective control action. The numerical results obtained for the South-Brazilian system demonstrate the necessity to adopt a coordinated control on both bifurcations in order to obtain optimal results in terms of the resulting stability margin.
