Abstract
This paper presents the basic design considerations and developed functionality in the distribution operation management system (DOMS) implemented at Peru-based Electrical Distribution Company Luz del Sur (LDS). The implemented system was both customized and extended from a commercial GE´s PowerOn base product in order to meet a comprehensive set of particular high-level requirements posed by Luz del Sur´s professional end users. The resulting system, DOMS, is a powerful computational platform from which empowered dispatchers are enabled to manage, in near-real time, both planned and unplanned operations concerning the electrical network. Dispatchers are able to follow operations conducted on the field by driving and viewing the electrical network state in three diverse but synchronized environments: list-based view, geographical-based view and, the most important and widely used, orthogonal schematics-base view.
