Abstract
The introduction of subterranean public, medium voltage distribution networks led a number of electricity supply companies, who until then had been using isolated or low impedance grounding, to become interested in compensated neutral networks. This technique, which the Northern and North-Eastern European distribution companies knew well, needed a technological modernisation in order to realise its full potential. New materials had to be developed in partnership with the companies so as to take into account the rise in capacitive current values, the progress in automatism and the search for better service continuity. This paper presents some of these industrial solutions
