Digital distance relay brings advantages of full-scheme relays to distribution networks

Faster and faster development in the sector of electronic components and the increased use of automation in power network management and electric installations, have led to sophisticated equipment, incorporating functions which, until recently and even now, have been carried out by separate units. Improved performance has lessened and, in some cases, completely removed the differences between devices used for transmission and for distribution. The power system protection relay described in this paper is therefore aimed at the widest possible market, without prejudice to performance and user costs
