Abstract :
We constructed a prototype microstrip gas proportional counter (MSGC) and an analysis system for the waveform from the MSGC. The possibility to utilize the MSGC for an X-ray polarimeter was investigated, using this system. The system can acquire and record the waveform of the signals with time resolution of 2 nsec and pulse height resolution of 0.5 mV. Using a generate of polarized X-rays, the MSGC was irradiated with polarized X-rays parallel and perpendicular to the microstrip plate. The each waveform was analyzed with two methods. From these results, the electron cloud from photoabsorption seems slightly to extend in the direction of the polarization vector
