Abstract
A novel scheme using a single-chip microcontroller to perform indirect vector control is proposed. A modular approach is adopted to facilitate system expansion. The advantages in using a single-chip microcontroller are compactness of the controller and cost reduction. The various subsystem algorithms of the vector controller and its implementation using a Siemens SAB 80515/80535 8-bit microcontroller are discussed. Its suitability for a demanding application such as vector controller, simplification of certain subsystem algorithms, and evaluation of their impact on the accuracy of performance constitute the original contributions in this research topic. The algorithms proposed cover 16-bit microcontrollers
