Abstract :
A pseudospark-based high-repetition-rate pulse generator is presented. The pulse generator is developed for research on transient plasma ignition of aircraft engines, plasma assisted combustion. The design incorporates a lumped element Blumlein pulse forming network switched by a commercial pseudospark device into an output pulse transformer with a METGLAS core. Pulse amplitudes from 15 kV to 90 kV, with duration from 60 ns to 200 ns can be generated at 2.6 kHz maximum repetition rate into a 200-ohm load. Methods to suppress electro magnetic interference (EMI) and ground noise will also be discussed in some detail
