Abstract :
Necessity for a new type electrically pumped lasers with the impact excitation mechanism in the case of materials activated with transition metals and rare-earths is considered. It is shown that such lasers can be only realized on the basis of thin-film MISIM structures (M is a electrode, I is an insulator layer and S is a semiconductor electroluminescent film), which are optical planar waveguide. The possibility of creation the new laser is demonstrated by obtaining the stimulated emission and the laser oscillation in thin-film waveguide ZnS:Cr structures.
