  • Abstract
    The rate of the water content in the soil has very an important influence on the consolidation and creep character of the soft clay. The indoor test research of the coupled consolidation and creep character of the typical soft clay in Wuhan region in different rates of water content has been done, combined with the deformation character of the soil. By analyzing the curve of the strain and time of the soil in the same deviatoric stresses, the same drainage conditions, and different rates of water content, the result indicates:(1)in drained condition, the higher the rate of water content, the bigger the deformation of the sample;(2)in undrained condition, in low stress level, the influence of the initial rate of water content to the deformation of the sample is not obvious; in high stress level, the lower the rate of water content ,the bigger the deformation of the sample.
