Abstract :
In recent years, the constant promotion of the urbanization resulted in one special type of land, i.e. urban wasteland. The rebuilding of landscape architecture in it can not only provide good public space for citizens´ recreation but also witness the perfect image and historic development of the city. Most importantly, the ecological balance of wasteland can be restored. This paper analyses the causes of the formation of wasteland, i.e. the exploitation of mining, the pollution and removal of industry, land used for garbage disposal and land of degradation. Then it elaborates the connotation and classification of wasteland and points out that four characteristics in the rebuilding of it, including ecological, artistic, site and social characteristics should be stressed. At last, the key techniques are discussed in terms of ecological restoration, the recycling of the disused materials and the transformation of abandoned relics in the rebuilding of landscape architecture in urban wasteland, which will be beneficial to the solution of the problems concerning urban wasteland.
