Abstract :
The author describes the interactive power systems analysis work carried out at UMIST which brings design, planning and operations work under the same umbrella. Flexible arrangements have been introduced for inputting data from data banks, operational records and SCADA systems. Special interactive procedures have been devised to address the different analysis needs. Listings of results have been reorganised to highlight different features. Displays use colour to indicate voltage bands or loading bands etc. and are all user-defined. Special generation characteristics which are not usually required for design have been put in for the operations aspects of the work
