Automatic control of fibrous matter using computer vision and self tuning knowledge base techniques

This paper describes the development and implementation of a “Fibertron” machine vision system which provides the first continuous, quantitative measurement of refined wood fibres in the composite panel industry. This work highlights the advantages of machine vision in situations where a human is performing a visual assessment of a product, as a basis on which to control a key part of the manufacturing process
