China is in the period of social and economic double transition, many cities face to the process of urban space reconstruction, especially in Pearl River Delta region, it s not only the cultural representative of south of the Five Ridges, but also one of the most dynamic region in Chinese economy, so it faces greater challenges in the protection and creation of urban space. Space reconstruction should not simply copy the form of traditional water towns, but learn from the wisdom of them, then reproduce the mood and culture features of traditional water towns. This paper analyzes the cultural landscape features of water towns, its core feature is the inseparable relationship between water towns and the "water", and it\´s the key of urban space reconstruction. This paper takes the overall urban design of Daojiao Town in Dongguan City as example, from the perspective of cultural landscape, specifically introduces how to reconstruct urban space around "water", so as to provide a new perspective and pathway of urban space reconstruction.
