Abstract
An alternative circuit configuration for the series-resonant AC-AC converter with only 12 thyristors is presented. Use of the converter results in higher efficiency and lower costs. The alternative power circuit has three neutrals, related to the polyphase source, the load, and the converter, which can be interconnected. If they are connected, the high-frequency component of the source and load currents will flow through the connection between the neutrals. The test results for a converter system generating three-phase sinusoidal input and output waveforms have demonstrated the significant aspects of this type of power interfaces
