Abstract
The operation of the static Kramer drive systems is complicated by the fact that the main region of interest lies on the rotor side and not on the stator side as is the case in ordinary induction motor drive systems. Unfortunately, the current mathematical models of these systems are either so complicated or valid for only steady state analysis. In this paper, a mathematically efficient model of the static Kramer drive system is developed. This model is based on the reference frame theory. Unlike previous d-q models, the developed model does not ignore the effect of the commutation overlap angle. Laboratory tests are presented to confirm the validity of the proposed mathematical model
