    A brief introductory survey is given on the history of laser printing. The characteristics of laser printers, their advantages, and their application range are described. The technology, including the operating principle, the preparation of print information by controller hardware and software tools, and the main components of printer hardware for fanfold and cut sheet paper, is outlined. Conclusions on future development are drawn
