Abstract
The performance of modern communications test systems depends on a combination of software and hardware. Moving critical and computationally intensive software algorithms into FPGAs provides both the flexibility and the speed demanded by today´s communications standards. This paper explains the need for digital onboard signal processing and its advantages for communications systems.
