Abstract :
The author presents several unconventional methods for the exploitation of symmetries in 1-D and 2-D linear phase finite impulse response (FIR) filters. In comparison with conventional methods, not only the number of multiplications is reduced, but the number of additions is also significantly reduced. The number of delay units remains minimum.
