Abstract :
This paper applies the SRT retiming technique to the ARM VFP-11 macrocell. An area saving of 15% is achieved, with no degradation of timing. The paper also develops a divide- only version of the macrocell, showing that combining square root operations doubles its area. Finally, the retimed divide-only macrocell is shown to be 20% larger but fractionally faster than another recently-published accelerated SRT divider.
