Abstract
Conventional discharge detection with statistical processing of discharge signals was used to analyze discharge distributions during ageing of artificial cavities and a 12 kV current transformer. Significant changes of discharge distributions were observed during these tests. Using various mathematical techniques a data base of discharge patterns obtained during ageing was created. The data base was then used for recognition of discharges. Results indicate that satisfactory recognition took place. Selected recognition tools showed a good potential for industrial application, such as recognition of discharges in high voltage (HV) components and periodic testing of HV equipment
