Abstract
Previous works from the authors (1996) about dynamic systems diagnosis led to multidimensional bilateral membership functions distributed along the path according to which a system state evolves from one functional state to another. This paper, based upon this bilateral membership function concept, proposes new development in order to solve the problem of diagnosis and introduce the notion of conditional or unconditional membership functions
