Abstract
We develop analytical models to study the performance gain, in terms of power consumption and outage probability, of two commonly used design techniques for TDMA systems: voice activity detection (VAD) and power-control. Although the primary goal of the two techniques for TDMA systems is power saving, our results show that VAD has significant gain and power control has moderate effects on outage probability
