  • Abstract
    Roof greening is a hot topic in recently years. It is a practical way for energy conservation, carbon fixation and release oxygen, beautifying environment and so on. A random selected green roof was investigated to test the effect of existing green roof in Jiaozuo. The results showed that: both the maximum air temperature and average air temperature near the surface of the green roof was about 1.7 °C lower than those of the cement roof from 9am to 5pm. The relative humidity near the surface of the cement roof is lower than those of the air and the green roofs´. On this basis, a roof greening experiment was conducted on the roof of a residential building in Jiaozuo, Henan province, China. The testing area is 17.8 m . A reasonable solution was derived by plant selection, construction, ground substance and load-bearing roof, finally a cost-benefit about the green roof was analyzed. This solution can promote the process of roof greening and improve the urban environment.
