Abstract
In multiband OFDM (MB-OFDM) systems, frequency hopping (FH) is proposed to achieve multiple access, mitigate interference and extend the range of communications. The introduction of frequency hopping significantly increases the complexity of the transceiver design, both in radio frontend (RF) part and digital baseband side. In this paper, by exploiting the IF-sampling principle, we propose a novel receiver architecture, which typically consists of a mixer with local input of a fixed down-converting frequency, followed by some filter banks. This solution can ease the development of frequency synthesizer greatly, reduce the system complexity and cost significantly with little performance degradation.
