Abstract :
This paper studies the On/Off patterns of users in large-scale ad hoc networks, with both the packet arrivals at each user and the user locations following Poisson distributions. We derive the probability of an arbitrary user being in On state at any time to learn the average spectrum usage in temporal and spatial domains. The derived results are useful to estimating the spectrum utility in large-scale random networks. Simulation results are provided to validate our analysis.
