Abstract :
Research on optical networks and photonics technologies is a key topic area of the Information Society Technologies (IST) programme. Seven optical networking projects are active since 2000, complemented by 11 components projects. An additional 4 network projects and 10 component projects started in 2001, and there are further opportunities to propose new projects, for 2002
