Abstract :
In this paper, a new method for identifying harmonic sources, which is so called “Critical Voltage Area Method” (CVAM) is proposed. The principle of CVAM is to compare two areas of harmonic voltage sources in the phasor equivalent diagram and choose the larger one as the main harmonic source. A Critical Voltage Area Method is introduced to “measure” the equivalent harmonic voltage source through measurements of voltage and current at the point of common coupling (PCC). The accomplishment of CVAM in different situations is discussed in detail and several simulation case studies are performed.
