Abstract
This paper reports on a study of electrical breakdown characteristics of LDPE with varying degree of thermooxidative degradation. The samples of LDPE were aged at different temperatures in air and in vacuum. The chemical changes were determined using FTIR. Although the main emphasis was placed on the dc behaviour, both ac and impulse breakdown tests (for a comparison) were carried out
