Study on the new features of urban housing development and design in Xi´an

This article analyzes several new features of housing development in the city of Xi´an. There are three parts of the paper. At first, the article proposes the background of the study. Then it summarizes three characteristics of the residential development at present. Firstly, the housing consumption starts to care for the brand of the developers. The competition is changing from the price to the quality and environment. Secondly, the intelligent dwelling houses are popular now. In order to provide the safe, effective and comfortable life space, many scientific and technological methods are applied to the residences. Thirdly, humanistic architectural design is emphasized in community. The author analyzes it from four aspects. One is the layout of the house; the other three are the landscape design, accessorial establishments and eco-residence. At last, the paper draws conclusion that it should develop intelligent, humanistic and eco-housing in light of the requirements in Xi´an.
