Abstract
Tucurui Reservoir flooded an area of around 2800 km2 of tropical forest creating a variety of environments within the lake. The relationship between spectral reflectance and water variables was examined for each of those aquatic environments located in the west margin of the reservoir. Spectral data was collected in the range of 400 nm 900 nm, with a nominal resolution of 2 nm. Water samples were collected concurrently to the spectral data acquisition. The following limnological variables were determined: total suspended solids, total phosphorus, total nitrogen, total chlorophyll (a+pheophytin), conductivity, Secchi depth, and total depth. High correlations were observed for data clustered according to absorption features location and position
