Abstract
In this paper we propose a new and efficient approach to obtain information on vegetation canopies status from remote sensing data and the spectral response of more important solid photosynthetic pigments. A neural network has been used to obtain the weight percentage of each photosynthetic pigment present in a particular kind of vegetation canopy. Then, a linear equation has been empirically proposed to determine the calibration curves that allow transforming the output neural network into the spectral response of the pure components. The predicted vegetation canopies status has been confirmed from these curves
