Abstract
The subtropical zones are not fit for observation by active remote sensor due to bad weather conditions. For example, no scene with 0% cloud coverage of satellite data such as Landsat TM/MSS was obtained in 1991 in northern Taiwan. Therefore, the plural scenes are necessary for one complete composite image. So the authors selected four different scenes of the northern Taiwan area of MOS-1/MESSR in 1991 to 1993, and made a mosaic composite image from these scenes to obtain a land cover classification. Also, an improved probability plot method is used for extracting a training area in performing maximum likelihood method. A complete land cover classification image is shown
