Abstract
A bandwidth allocation scheme for the distributed-queue dual-bus (DQDB) network, the adaptive threshold algorithm (ATA), is proposed. The ATA mechanism is able to prevent with short response time any saturation or any underload of the network. The medium capacity is fairly shared between active nodes by keeping permanently the network global load under a given threshold. By means of simulation results, the performances of ATA and of bandwidth balancing are compared in terms of response time and of medium utilization ratio
