Abstract
A novel 36-step voltage converter system without using bulky transformers is proposed. The system consists of line-side interphase reactors, two voltage-fed main converters and an additional single-phase power converter with a single-phase transformer. The proposed system has the features of no bulky input transformers, low switching frequencies of main power converters and less distorted voltage and current waveforms. Thus, the system is suitable for high power applications
