Abstract :
The purpose of this paper is to address the legal ramifications, major influences, implementation and lessons learned from a public-private partnering agreement for the Special Operations Forces (SOF) C-130s. Partnering between government and private industry is proving to be a win-win situation for the sustainment of national defense. With shrinking budgets, defense dollars can be stretched by combining the resources of public/private industry. The paper describes an instance in which the competencies of each partner were recognized in a manner that brought out the best of both. This paper highlights the importance of public-private partnering, acquisition reform judicial relief, the primary features associated with implementing a unique business agreement and the lessons that were learned during the process
