Abstract :
This paper deals with three methodologies used to implement distributed processing or multimedia systems. The first system shows a very simple microcontroller used to decode a keyboard and signal the main CPU when a key stroke has been decoded. The second system details two microcontrollers operating over a serial bus which is synchronous in nature. The third system shows how multiprocessing has been incorporated into single chips. That is, silicon processing/design technology has progressed to the point of putting multiple elements on a single device, each with its own microcontroller
