Abstract :
Creativity is one of the main aspects of intelligence. “Unconsciousness” as the shadow of a real conscious mind is the faculty of many creative behaviors in human beings. In this article, the role of the unconscious mind in artistic creation and, more specifically, in the style of surrealism based on Freud´s psychoanalytic theories are proposed. Also, well-known cognitive models of memory are applied to design a synthesized cognitive memory apparatus involved in the creation process according to Freud´s psychic apparatus models. Finally, the transliminality phenomenon (i.e. openness to unconscious) in creative mechanisms of natural intelligence is analyzed and simulated according to neurocomputing principles. The proposed approach can be exploited to help explain creativity in human beings, and also designing intelligent systems with the capacities of humanoid creativity.
