Abstract :
This paper presents a novel single-phase UPS topology based on series resonant power converters. Among the features of the proposed topology are: (i) zero voltage switching for all power converters that comprise the UPS; (ii) inherent protection against short-circuits in the load; (iii) high quality output waveforms even when operating at no load or with a low power factor load; and (iv) isolation of the battery, the output and the input from each other using high frequency transformers. In this paper, the operating principle of the UPS is described and its main characteristics are derived. Experimental results substantiate the validity of the analysis and demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed scheme
