  • Abstract
We made breakthrough of EDFA for burst-mode operation. This can be realized by refining and optimization of EDFA itself without any controlling such as AGC or optical feedback loop. Our approach was alleviation of saturation and was not compensation but mitigation. Therefore, it can be used to improve existing compensation or controlling methodology dramatically without excess cost. We showed two types of prototype and comparison with conventional EDFAs. We also discussed about the reason of transience in optical packet stream.
