Abstract :
Peter A. W. Lewis, one of the leaders of the fields of applied statistics, applied probability modeling, operations research, and computer simulation, passed away on April 8, 2011. Over the course of his forty-four year career, Peter made seminal contributions to theory, methodology, and practice in all the aforementioned disciplines. Moreover, by his untiring advocacy of computer simulation as a tool of critical importance in many areas of research and professional practice, Peter substantially raised the status and visibility of computer simulation in the international engineering and scientific communities.
