Abstract :
The PC-compatible busless single-board computer has become a much desired approach to product design requiring an embedded PC architecture. Embedding a PC into a product can be approached in many ways. The original equipment manufacturer (OEM) design engineer has the option of (a) designing their own board at the chip level, (b) utilizing any one of a number of PC BUS systems, and (c) utilizing a busless single-board computer. As the title suggests, this paper discusses the third design option. Further mention is made regarding the other design options insofar as how they compare to the busless single-board computer
