Abstract :
An optical sampling scheme based on nonlinear polarization rotation in a gain-transparent semiconductor optical amplifier is proposed. This scheme enjoys many advantages, which include simple configuration, absence of amplified spontaneous emission noise, absence of pattern effects, high speed of operation, high sensitivity, broad signal wavelength coverage and polarization-independence.
