Abstract :
One of the consequences of the expansion of China´s higher education (HE) section is the isomorphism of universities in terms of subject, disciplines and course arrangements. Many questions arise: To what extent has the isomorphism become a matter in Chinese universities? What are the major causes for such isomorphism? What are the consequences on the development of the HE sector, and on the employment and career development of HE graduates? These questions will be considered through a combination of secondary data analysis based upon national education statistics and a case study of Shaanxi-a leading province in HE development in China.
